Long-running rural-owner thread (2014 onward) behind most of the "I wish I'd known" list: the buried-pumps regret, an owner on a third Watkins-built tub since 1989 with three service calls in total, and monthly running costs reported from about $25 (a well-insulated tub) to about $300 added in winter (a friend's tub). Oklahoma concrete contractor. A filled, occupied tub can exceed 5,000 lb; 5-6 inches for 5-7 person tubs; #3 or #4 rebar on an 18-inch grid; pad at least 6 inches larger on every side; 4-6 inches of compacted gravel; consider 4,000 PSI when pouring in cold weather.

Georgia dealer-run review site. Distinguishes open-cell from closed-cell full foam, says closed-cell hardens to almost the texture of concrete, and puts a field leak repair at about $250 on open-cell against up to ten times that on closed-cell. One interested source.
