How much space do you need for a golf simulator?
Plan for about a 10 ft ceiling (9 ft works for most golfers, 8.5 ft for irons only) and a room 12-15 ft wide and 15-18 ft deep. A radar unit such as the Mevo Gen2 needs about 16 ft of depth indoors; a camera unit beside the ball does not.
Ceiling height decides whether you can swing a driver. Manufacturer room guidance puts the comfortable ceiling at 9-10 feet, with 8.5 feet workable for irons only. A room that forces a shortened swing will teach you a shortened swing, so this is the first number to check, and owners say the same.
Width and depth come next: roughly 12-15 feet wide by 15-18 feet deep for a complete enclosure. Measure with the screen and enclosure frame in place, not from the bare wall, because the frame and the gap behind the screen eat into both.
The launch monitor's technology then sets the minimum depth. A radar unit watches the ball fly, so the Mevo Gen2 wants about eight feet behind the ball plus eight feet of flight, roughly 16 feet in total. Camera units such as the Square Golf, Bushnell LPi and Uneekor EYE MINI LITE sit beside the ball and read it at impact, so a shorter room does not hurt them. If your room is short, that rules radar out before budget does.

How Much to Spend on a Home Golf SimulatorBy Purchasd Research. We compared current manufacturer and retailer product pages, independent review-site testing, owner forum threads (including thirteen Reddit threads read in full on 1 October 2026), and long-term ownership write-ups. Manufacturer and retailer pages established prices, specifications and subscription terms; independent testing established accuracy claims; owner forums and multi-year ownership reports established durability, service and used-market behavior. Prices are list or observed street prices on the dates given, not transaction prices, and several are promotional. Purchasd received no manufacturer payment, review units or affiliate consideration for this research. Several of the best-documented sources are retailers or manufacturers that sell the equipment; each is labeled by bias and, where possible, paired with an independent or owner source.
