Espresso machine or Nespresso: which should you buy?
Nespresso if speed and consistency matter most; a super-automatic if you want bean-to-cup taste without technique; a manual machine only if you want to learn.
Nespresso owners who stayed cite speed and convenience, and several who bought manual machines went back. Capsule machines were also the most reliable type in CHOICE’s owner survey.
Pods cost more per cup, about $0.70 against about $0.49 for beans, and that is the usual reason people leave. Those who moved to super-automatics mostly report no regrets; some say they can no longer drink pods.
